Viewing the data sets
Data in the Population Health Data Repository (PHDR) can be viewed on the repository website.
To protect the data, users of the site can only view information about the data collection and view the number of cases that match their criteria.
For instructions on viewing the data sets, please see our Data Use Tutorial.
Using data sets
In order to use data collections housed in the PHDR, researchers are required to submit a project proposal to the PHDR advisory committee who will forward successful proposals to the owner of the data. The approval of proposals will be based on the merit of the research project and security provisions in place at the researcher’s institution.
The PHDR limits data access to researchers meeting these criteria for two reasons, i) to protect the security and confidentiality of the data and ii) to ensure that research using data from the repository is credible and contributes to scientific knowledge that will benefit the public good. Users of the data are required to sign a license agreement that requires ethical and responsible use of the data.
